Interesting idea. A very creative approach to injecting money into the economy. It made me think of a different tact. What if the govt. took 5 dollars of the taxes I pay every Friday. Or Tax free Friday?

The famous quote of Roosevelt about fear is very timely in these days. I seem to recall hearing President Obama says without the money from the stimulus package, we might NEVER recover. Not exactly inspiring from the nation's leader.

The part of your ideas that stands out to me is the part about we, the community solving the problem. Working together we could do, what the government only wishes it could do. Solve problems by bringing people together and building character at the same time. Your idea could do that.

Thought provoking idea. The idea that we can influence the world around us...I'm going to pass this one on.

Just to clarify: You're not suggesting we go simply spend a $5 bill somewhere each Friday, but rather to spend $5 MORE than we normally would, correct? Of course, if we hadn't planned on spending any money that day, then that amount would be (lessee, carry the 1) $5.

My first instinct was, what if people, in embracing this idea, actually rearranged their schedule to spend the money that they otherwise would've spent on, say, Tuesday, and spent it Friday instead. For instance, I decide to plan my friends lunch for Friday instead of Wednesday. Well, I would've spent that money one way or another, but I just moved it to Friday to honor the "$5 Fridays" concept. I know I'm nitpicking, but will it really make that much of an impact in that case?

Hi Rick;

Thank you for inviting me to join "$5 Fridays" on FaceBook & Twitter. (I've forwarded your Blog post & invitations to my Friends & associates.)

Your concept seems to me like a Holy Spirit-inspired one. Your logic and wisdom exceeds what I've read from the so-called experts. (And I've lived through all the recession/depressions since 'the big one'.)

You and I agree that dividing all the 'stimulus packages' among residents of the stimulating countries won't work for the reasons you state. Hopefully, your idea will catch on, world-wide, because many economists, as you know, are suggesting the international "Stimulus Packages" will not work. They're just more "kicks at the cat" like Roosevelt's New Deal which didn't end The Great Depression, either, according to many historians.

I'll be praying with you and spending at least my $5 each Friday 'till the Lord leads us through, & out of, our current world-wide "trial".

Thankfully, Jesus Followers can count-on their unfailing promise in http://is.gd/ggpE in which "temptation" also means trial as in http://is.gd/j5dj.

Blessings,
@GaryFPatton in Toronto
